Can the family help me ?

Postby SeahawkDan » Mon Dec 05, 2011 2:49 pm

Here's the deal, I'm looking to tow a vehicle cross country to here in Atlanta, I was wondering if anyone knows of a company that has vehicles to tow, I'll be towing from Nevada to Atlanta, I'm also looking into companies that will transport the vehicle but I want to see if I can do it first before I go through a company. I've already checked with hertz and enterprise but they are a no go, and uhaul charges close to 2k just for the truck rental. Any help will be greatly appreciated, if you want some more info pm me

The first and only though I had was Uhaul. Hope you get it sorted out man...good luck.

If you put it on a trailer from uhaul it'll cost you about a G; with the tow dolly about 500

Not sure if the said vehicle is drivable ...

Already checked with uhaul a couple times first time just for the truck the price would be around 15-1600 now its about 1900, to toe its about the price you mentioned, I'm just not sure why the uhaul price is so overpriced... The vehicle I'm working on getting out here is driveable but It's a '68 Ford so I'm gonna try and save driving it know what I mean ?, I really do appreciate your guys help

When I moved from Seattle to Phoenix I rented from Penske, they were cheaper and their trucks are in way better shape. They buy them new and sell them after 4 years at least thats what they told me...LOL

When I was looking at Uhaul they had some crappy trucks, not knowing if it would break down or not.

The move was back in 2005 and I rented a 20 foot truck and car trailer for 9 days cost was $1800

I actually checked with penske as well, they're not much cheaper than uhaul. I think the best financial route will be for me to have it shipped, I'm a bit more nervous about it, due to the sentimental value. So does anyone know of any good, quality shipping companies ?

Your best bets are to either ship by train or find a trailer and haul it yourself. Rail is cheaper but usually longer than shipping by truck. Things to consider are if the car runs and if it's sentimental is there insurance offered by the shipping company and/or can it be covered by your policy if you register it.

It also doesn't hurt to search for forums and BBB for reviews.
